I couldn’t be more excited

I don’t know how he knew it was what I wanted (unless it was the incessant hinting) but the Scottish one has given me a kitchen aid (it shouldn’t officially be mine for another 3 weeks but I picked it up last night and was actively encouraged to unwrap it). I’ve wanted one of these beauties for ever – or at least for the last fifteen years. I am unbelievably excited, as is my mother who has a theory that you’re not a proper woman until you have a food mixer – getting her first Kenwood chef was a seminal experience apparently. Still she may be right, she normally is, even when saying things that might raise an eyebrow. I know you shouldn’t get too carried away by things but having wanted one of these for such a long time having one in my home – neither Christmas nor birthdays have been this exciting for almost thirty years, and now all I have to decide is what to mix in it first.

  2. You made me laugh! And I have visions of your mixer whirring away while your kitchen is cloudy with flour. Enjoy your early present!

  3. I think you can rest assured about being grown up - I think Kitchen Aids are for the people who are not quite grown up yet and Kenwoods are for those who are ;)
    I jest of course... Enjoy!

  4. My sister inherited my grandmother's old but still working one, and I was so envious. I finally bought my own last year as a Christmas present, and I still remember the thrill. What will you mix first?

  5. Go on Elaine you know you want to ;)

Darlene, I have been enjoying it, and won't want to leave for work tomorrow - it's like having a new puppy; doesn't feel right to leave it alone yet...

Verity - to be fair it always was a kenwood my mother talked about and I have to admit I was swayed entirely by the kitchenaid's looks so perhaps you're right.

Lisa May - that kind of longevity is encouraging. First mix was gugelhupf, second was a fruit cake - it's been a busy afternoon.

  6. Congratulations on your new puppy. I know the feeling. One year for Christmas John ordered a Kitchen Aid for me. It arrived a few Saturday's before Christmas while I was in the middle of my holiday baking. Like you, I was encouraged to open it on the spot and put it to use.

  7. Thomas - it's irresistible, I love this gadget, though I'd probably love a puppy more...
