There's no equivalent to Charing Cross Road/Cecil Court here that I can find which is sad, and surely a sign that the big bad wolves of chain store commerce have forced them out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-19439311776314267942011-01-10T09:49:49.382+00:002011-01-10T09:49:49.382+00:00It's alright being back Verity, I'm just a...It's alright being back Verity, I'm just about to set off for work though and I'm not feeling very enthusiastic. Like you quite a chunk of my holiday time was taken up by feeling ill, I want more time to lounge about reading books and admiring the scenery, this having to earn a living thing isn't very relaxing.Desperate Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15708411387912078122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-73025596498217050982011-01-10T08:55:57.951+00:002011-01-10T08:55:57.951+00:00Happy New Year Hayley - nice to see you back even ...Happy New Year Hayley - nice to see you back even if it isn't nice to be back!verityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16825551404394913715noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-66230280132397498852011-01-09T23:00:08.088+00:002011-01-09T23:00:08.088+00:00Hoarding is the word for it, but it's second n...Hoarding is the word for it, but it's second nature to me so I don't think I'm even going to try and break that habit.

Interested to see that I'm not the only one fed up with the big chains. It's really good to see how vibrant the independants can be though - hopefully there is a futire for high street bookselling after all.Desperate Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15708411387912078122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-5925074553590122462011-01-09T20:59:17.969+00:002011-01-09T20:59:17.969+00:00I'm with you on the bookshop front. Although the second hand book shop buying does lead to a little bit of hoarding due to 'it won't be in their next time' mentality.Joan Hunter Dunnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14652041203134127783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-38047753152437680062011-01-09T16:56:02.761+00:002011-01-09T16:56:02.761+00:00"...I think I also acquired books at 3 to 4 t..."...I think I also acquired books at 3 to 4 times the rate I managed to read them." I'm sick of looking at their celebrity biogs and tacky thrillers. I'll try to use the independents and second-hand shops this year.Vintage Readinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05971819409379613967noreply@blogger.com
