I have the slightly later edition than yours which has a rather elegant lady on the front, and normally I don't buy Viragos unless they're like the one you have, but I love Molly Keane so much that I was prepared to make an exception in this instance. Plus I rather like the cover anyway.

I adore Molly Keane. I know she's not everyone's cup of tea but I think she's hysterically funny as well as being very emotionally acute; she is an Irish Jane Austen mixed with Evelyn Waugh, which makes her, as Mary Poppins would say, practically perfect in every way!

Isn't it funny how when you reread books they become something else entirely than what you remember? I am afraid to reread some books I consider favourites because I fear they might not resonate as much with me now as they did at the time I first read them. I'd rather cherish the memory of a good read than reread it and have that memory dulled by a later reassessment.Rachel (Book Snob)https://www.blogger.com/profile/13669640788036671572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-76928251057845972412009-09-21T16:33:25.303+01:002009-09-21T16:33:25.303+01:00That sounds like an interesting book. I didn't enjoy the first Keane book that I read, but I haven't given up on her and I like that idea.

It's funny to find that tag inside; I recently acquired two VMCs from Oxfam which both had the same name and address inside. I wondered if the person had died...verityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16825551404394913715noreply@blogger.com
