Apart from phones and motor cars not much has changed on PE island... I believe that The Blue Castle is theoretically an adult title but agree that it reads like something for children. I like the way she deals with complex family issues here - she would be on my fantasy dinner party list for sure!Desperate Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15708411387912078122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-12389115266821904332014-06-05T16:36:43.084+01:002014-06-05T16:36:43.084+01:00She has a very distinctive voice and I can quite s...She has a very distinctive voice and I can quite see why you might not warm to it. I don't mind the rather breathless descriptions of PE island and all the stuff about fairy dells and what not - I get a bit silly about islands myself... Underneath that I think she has some great insights and is a brilliant writer for children - interesting for adults but there's absolutely no shame in not particularly warming to her books!Desperate Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15708411387912078122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-1460539057553673612014-06-05T16:29:41.178+01:002014-06-05T16:29:41.178+01:00I saw your reviews but haven't managed to comm...I saw your reviews but haven't managed to comment yet so here goes the belt and braces approach... I think she's well worth reading as an adult and with books like this still relevant for younger readers too. The Emily series us interesting fir the way Emily is so uncompromising about her career and also her love life (in the later books).Desperate Readerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15708411387912078122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-46761830127121833072014-06-05T13:13:41.459+01:002014-06-05T13:13:41.459+01:00I must read this! It didn't read like that at all. I thought it was just another of Montgomery's young adult/children's books.
