Over here there have been a couple of articles from veterans explaining why they won't wear poppies next year which I find interesting. I'm in the habit of thinking of WW1 as a catalyst for change against an old order, I will look out for something that puts it in an Australian context. I like the fact that this has images too as I'd imagine it gives another perspective.Elliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09362128444319074118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8011557877105021955.post-74562076951794722662013-11-11T10:12:11.991+00:002013-11-11T10:12:11.991+00:00I suspect we're going to be swamped in a wave ...I suspect we're going to be swamped in a wave of fascinating new finds and discoveries as 2014 arrives. For Australia it's going to be 2015 and the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli that should provide much food for thought about the place of WW1 in the creation of a (then) young nation's identity. I feel a bit mixed about it -- one hopes that the tragedy and sacrifice will not become lost in a tsunami of bad TV drama. (I seem to have a lot of watery phrasing going on here which I won't analyse!)skiourophilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08200877834536477400noreply@blogger.com
