I hate when stuff doesn't work and I can't get it fixed quickly. This book was brilliant and I have high hopes for some more of her books. I haven't read Mildred Pierce, but I think I might have a copy of it somewhere, I'm sure I've seen the film, though details are hazy about that too. I do remember enjoying it though. I hadn't heard of Millar either, but I do love a mid-century hard-boiled thriller. That new cover is wonderful. And have you read Mildred Pierce? It wasn't as much a thriller as a character study, but I thought it was just wonderful. I read it with a book group and it was one of our most successful choices.
